If you haven’t come to a P.T.A. night – this is one you’ll want to make.

Note – wear your P.J.s (or just let the kids jammy-up), bring your credit card, and get ready to have fun and learn some new stuff!

1.  New Peabody Gear on Sale!

The PTA will be taking credit cards! So you can load up on shirts and hoodies and pay for it later:)

Modeled by adorable 3rd grader, Ava Bulter

2. PTA News!

Your hardworking PTA has been wrangling budgets, setting up fundraisers and organizing new programs.  Hear about all of the great things your parent organization has been doing, and how it’s making Peabody an even better school to learn and love!

3.  Family Literacy Night!

Bring your child to the meeting in his P.J.s!  After the meeting, Peabody Elementary is holding a ‘Family Literacy’ Night! This event is to celebrate the school’s new Accelerated Readers program which was purchased with PTA funds.

Milk and cookies will be served.  Peabody’s Ms. McMillen will read stories to the kids, a representative from the Memphis Public Library will be on-hand to sign up people for library cards, and parents will get a sneak-peak at just how Accelerated Readers will work (because your kids will be talking about it!)

Show your Peabody Pride this Thursday at 6 p.m.

Kindergarten Ice Cream Social – Sweet Success

A gymnasium full of newly-minted Kindergarteners and their families received a cool reception to Peabody… the sugary, yummy kind, that is:)

Peabody Elementary Adopters, Neighborhood Church, provided the ice cream and the entertainment – balloons, face painting, and music!

This was the 2nd annual Kindergarten Ice Cream Social.  It was introduced last year to help ease kids and their families into a new school and new friends. Looks like it worked again!

This year, the Ice Cream Social welcomed some of the students from the largest Kindergarten class Peabody has had in three years.  According to Principal Kongsouly Jones, 75 Kindergarteners enrolled in the school this year – that’s 15 more than last year.  In fact, so many students enrolled that Principal Jones is hiring a fourth Kindergarten teacher!  Looks like more and more people are finding out about our great school.

Welcome to our 2011 Kindergarteners and their families!
