No – they’re not ready to declare their majors just yet, but elementary students are old enough to start thinking about the future. Sure, most of them want the glamorous jobs – firefighters, athletes, and actors – but now is the perfect time to expose them to a range of professions! 

Some studies show that career development is a lifelong path that begins in elementary school. Here are a few simple tips for presenting to young kids.

Peabody Elementary’s 2013 ‘Walking School Bus’

This Wednesday all Peabody Eagles and parents are invited to join the Walking School Bus! We will meet that morning and walk/roll to school together on our very awesome Walking School Bus!

When:  7:30 am, Wednesday, October 1

Where:  Meet at the carwash at corner of South Parkway/Young Avenue

Teachers will meet students at this intersection, and we strongly encourage parents to walk with their kids! This is a part of an international movement to encourage more children to walk to school.

This year’s theme is: “Peabody E.A.G.L.E.S- Educating All Grade Levels and Ensuring Success”

The winner will receive a free t-shirt (and bragging rights!)

Submit your entries to Ms. Momany no later than Friday, October 3.

Contest Rules: 

  • Open to Peabody Students in Kindergarten through 5th grade.
  • Designs should consist mostly of yellow and white artwork.
  • Please keep in mind that the winning design will be printed on a light blue shirt.
  • Remember to include your full name, grade section and teacher on your artwork.

PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES

Parent Teacher Conferences are Thursday, September 18th from 4:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. Conferences are scheduled on 15 minutes intervals. Please call the school @ 416-4606 to schedule an appointment in the office to meet with your child’s teacher for Parent Teacher Conferences.

 

STUDENTS OUT OF SCHOOL

Students are out of school Friday, September 19th for the District’s Learning Day for Students.

 

CHARITY EVENT OPPORTUNITY

Mrs. Wilkes, Peabody School Secretary, has been chosen to go to jail without passing go. On September 25, 2014, an actual MPD officer will come to Peabody School to haul Mrs. Wilkes off to jail for the Muscular Dystrophy Association fundraiser. Mrs. Wilkes will return to school in a limousine. Students who bring $1 to support the cause by Wednesday, September 24th will earn an “Out of Uniform Day” for Friday, September 26th. Please pay you’re your $1 to see Mrs. Wilkes go to jail. Our goal is $400.00.

  • Starry Night in Peabody Park Tuesday, September 16 from 5:30 P.M. – 6:30 P.M.
  • AR Family Night- Parents bring your child to the library Wednesday, September 17 from 5:00 P.M. – 6:00 P.M. to take an AR test.
