Teacher Appreciation Week!

teacher appreciation week

Teacher Appreciation Week is May 1-5th.  The Peabody PTA is sponsoring a luncheon for teachers and staff — a lovely spread put on by our super School Adopter, Sweet Grass. It’s so big, that it happens over two days. The school is also holding a Teacher’s Breakfast at the school at the beginning of the week.

This means Peabody needs volunteers to cover classes while our amazing crew enjoys delicious food and a fun time together! You can find the form in your child’s Tuesday folder to cover your child’s class (or volunteer to cover any class) for the breakfast and/or luncheon. Or just download the Teacher Appreciation form here and turn it in to the school.

Field Day is May 9th!

Oh boy — it’s almost time for Field Day. And our little Eagles are going to have a blast. There will be games, face painting, a bounce house and treats — all the fun on Tuesday, May 9th from 9:30am-1:30pm.

Peabody needs a few things to make this day complete:

  1.  Concessions will be available for just $6. The order form for concessions must be filled out and returned with money by Friday, May 5th.  You can find the form in your child’s Tuesday folder or ask for one from the front desk.
  2.   Volunteer and be part of the fun! Peabody needs people to help with set-up (8:00-9:00); clean-up (1:00-2:00); Face Painting (morning or afternoon); games/activities (morning or afternoon). Please fill out the form in your child’s Tuesday folder, ask for a form at the front desk or you can download and turn it in: Field Day Sign Up.

On Field Day, your child should wear sneakers — no flip flops, sandals or crocs.  Socks and sunscreen should be worn (kids MUST wear socks in the bounce house) and cool, comfortable clothing.  Even jean shorts are a go! It’s going to be nutty!

If you did not purchase a Field Day T-Shirt, your child should wear a T-shirt with section level colors: 01- RED; 02- GREEN, 03 & 04- BLUE.

Three cheers for Peabody Field Day!

Keep BrainPop! at Peabody

Peabody Teachers and Students Love Using BRAINPOP and BRAINPOP, Jr.

brain popBrainPOP and BrainPOP, Jr. are great ways to introduce a new topic, concept, or current event and get kids engaged in the learning. Students can take a quiz before or after watching a movie. Teachers use the movies to train the students to listen to content for the answers and/or to practice note-taking skills. BrainPOP movies are just the right length for keeping one’s attention and is a great tool for the Smartboard to make learning interactive.  They make our learning FUN!

Please donate to this IOBY campaign so we can keep BrainPop and BrainPop, Jr. in our school. Our generous School Adopter, the Cooper-Young Community Association, is providing a $500 match — so your donation can do more!
