Being a parent at Peabody Elementary means getting involved. It’s that ‘Peabody Pride,’ and it’s been here for generations of Peabody families.
But we are entering a new era of education in Memphis and Shelby County. How will consolidation affect Peabody? How will it affect all of the children of the city and county?
Stand for Children is a national organization with local affiliates. Memphis has a strong local chapter.
Our local Stand organizers can help us better understand what issues… like consolidation… mean to our families, bring our concerns to the people who make laws, and rally support when legislators aren’t looking out for our school.
But Stand needs more representatives from Peabody to voice the needs of our school.
Find out more about Stand and how you can represent the children, teachers, and parents of Peabody.
Meeting: Tuesday, October 26th
Time: 5:30-7:00
Where: Peabody Cafeteria
Light refreshments will be served and children are welcome.
Geoffrey Canada, founder of the Harlem Children’s Zone, was Stand for Children’s first board chairman. He says that the voices of parents and concerned citizens must be heard in any debate about education. Stand can get these voices heard.
Can you make it? Please RSVP and let us know if you plan on attending by phone or replying to this email. Please call community organizer Jaclyn Suffel at 901-438-7786 if you have questions or would like to RSVP. If you can’t come, but are interested, email Jaclyn anyway.
